Large Gulf Stream Blue boat or elongated dish by Chinese-American artist Fong Chow, designed and hand decorated as “artware” for in the 1950s. This extra long 16.5" boat shaped dish is particularly hard to find. Glidden Pottery made stoneware dinnerware and “artware” in Alfred, New York from 1940 to 1957. Famously, Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz had a set of Glidden dishes which can sometimes be seen in episodes of "I Love Lucy". Fong Chow (1924-2011) was Chief Designer of Glidden Pottery from 1952-1957. He went on to become a curator of the Far East Department of the Metropolitan Museum of Art NYC 1957-1982. 16.5"L x 5"W x 2"H.
